About BreastSens
We commit to changing the dialogue about breast cancer from early detection and prevention as the primary focus of breast disease control as currently endorsed by public healthcare systems, some breast cancer NGOs and the media to a patient sensitive and inclusive cause of disease and cure research paradigm.
We further commit, in collaboration with the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital's Breast Unit, to improving breast cancer survival rates among Soweto women. We will achieve this by identifying barriers to care, employing culture sensitive education messages and by lobbying for equitable access to evidence based public healthcare.
We also commit to nurturing, sharing and solidifying South African - and African research expertise to ensure the delivery of affordable, adaptable, culturally appropriate and sustainable national cancer care and control strategies.
